From the desert to the ocean. Monterey, CA

February 28th, 2014
Mostly overcast
Lat/Lon 36.61N 121.9W

As we made our way from Phoenix, (Avondale), westward,
it was nice to see the change of landscape from the flat desert to some rolling hills.

Then the rolling hills became green grassy hills.
A ranch, set back against the hillside, surrounded by pastures.
This is my kind of place.

Then the change to green fields of agriculture.

(Goodbye desert - for a while at least!)
And finally to the Pacific Ocean!

A Day In Monterey

Monterey, California Fisherman's Warf and Cannery Row

I don't usually take photos at aquariums or zoos,
but there were just some things that I couldn't resist.

I LOVE the vivid colors and delicate textures of the anemones.
These will make great 'wallpaper' for my laptop.

Sardines - An Interesting Visual
(again, I couldn't resist)

And I just HAD to take a photo of Dory and Nemo.
Oops, my mistake, this is Marlin.  Nemo has that 'lucky fin' thing goin'.

I am so fascinated by Jellies.

I could sit and watch the Jellies for hours.
The movement is so tranquil, almost hypnotic.

Then we went to the beach because,... well, I just HAD to!

A flock of sandpipers.

A little game of fetch for Emmy.  Charley is so patient, and threw her stick repeatedly.

He threw it into the surf a few times, which scared me because she is so low to the ground,
and the waves were pretty good sized from a storm that had come through.
But she didn't care, it was all fetch!

We had a great day.   God, I LOVE the ocean.

  1. Monterey has a great aquarium , so much to see, so much to do. And the beach----that was refreshing after the dry desert-----dogs loved it I see. yeaaaaa. Glad you left before the huge waves hit.
