On to the next adventure....

Fallon, Nevada

On the drive down to Fallon, just before Winnemucca, I saw a old landmark.  I had forgotten about it, but recognized it immediately.  Mom and Jodi, I'm sure you both remember....
Shut up Mountain.

When we lived in Winnemucca, in the 60's, we would drive to Boise to see Grandma Cornwall.  On the drive back, as soon as we got close, Dad would say, "There's Shut up Mountain!"  And us kids couldn't talk the rest of the way home.   I think I believed, (most of my life), that was really the name of this mountain, but it's real name is Bloody Run Peak.
I'm sure there was something similar somewhere in the Owyhees for the trip INTO Boise, but I don't remember that one.

We didn't drive all the way yesterday, it was just too boring.
So this is where we pulled over for the night.
Puckerbrush,...  I love it!  hahaha!!!

We are now in Fallon, where we will stay for the next 2 months.  The RV park here is a nice one.  It has a gas station, convenience store, liquor store, deli, and LP,  all on site.  We've already met another couple that is here to work at Amazon.com for the season.
Orientation at Amazon is Saturday.  We'll keep you posted.

A busy visit...

It was with 'heavy heart' that we left Jacob Springs.
But with 'light heart',  here's the Little Pink Glasses at Jacob Springs.

It was such a great visit to Boise.  It seemed so busy and crazy, that time just flew!   Here are a few highlights.

Nitro got stung by a bee.   Before and After.
Yep, that was a trip to the vet.

I got to see Sweet Sue.  She's having a pretty tough time, but she is one tough little cookie.  Sue is so fun and funny,  I wish I could have stayed longer, but she had nurses there and all kinds of stuff going on.
(Sue, I'll see you again when I'm back in the spring, OK?)

I got to see my nephew, Jake, come home to his little family. After 2 military deployments to Iraq and Afganistan, he then went to Afganistan for a civilian job that was military related.
(I could explain it better, but then I'd hafta kill ya.)
Jake has always had short hair and been clean shaven, so it was pretty fun to see him looking 'fuzzy'!

Saw both of my wonderful daughters, and both of my cutie granddaughters! I cut Andrea's hair and redid the blue peacock stripes.

THEN,... I helped Adam assemble his helmet for guard.
          HOOO YAAWW!

Nancy and I took an undercover job.

Also, had breakfast with Mom, learned that donkeys like blueberry bagels, and got a broken
windshield fixed.  And while we were hanging around,... we helped hang a navajo blanket, an elk that felt more like a moose, and a bunch of branding irons.

It was a goooood visit.

Leaving Colorado :o(

October 2nd, 20!3
Partly cloudy

I'm sad to be leaving Colorado.

I've been so impressed with it.  The people are friendly and open minded, and there are so many different types of climate and landscape.  What a great package!

The best part is that you can find all the different landscapes within a hundred mile radius of almost anywhere!  The ONLY thing that could make Colorado better is an ocean.

(Some of the worst highway and freeway surfaces I've ever been on tho.  But that's ok, the scenery is worth it.)

Another jaunt over the Continental Divide.  :o)

Then into Breckenridge, CO,... where you can catch the chairlift from the grocery store parking lot.

From Breckenridge,  we continued through the mountains enjoying the glorious colors.

I swear these photos were not 'touched up'.
I'm starting to like aspens a lot more that I did before this trip.

This is Vale, Co.
Breckenridge and Vale were both quaint little towns, in the summer.  I'm glad we weren't there during ski season tho.

Leaving the Rockies, following the Colorado River toward the Utah border.

I think this is where the Colorado River 'practiced' before it when to the Grand Canyon to work on it's masterpiece.

Oh, and these last 2 pics are kinda cool.  Colorado puts 8 ft fences along the freeways to keep the deer out.  But in the event that some get in, they have these 'deer escapes' about every quarter to half mile or so.  These are places that are built up from the freeway side where the deer can walk up, then jump off to freedom.   Easy to get out, but not easy to get in.  Yet another reason why I really like Colorado.

Garden of the Gods

I've decided that not only am I a bird-nerd and a plant-geek, but apparently I am also a rock hound.  I love rock formations, and Garden of the Gods, near Colorado Springs, has some dandys!

Kissing Camels (They look a lot more like camels in the last pic, at the bottom.)
 Garden Spires

Beautiful streaks (above) and a Scrub Jay (below)

 Chawley and Lala

The different shapes and formations in this area are amazing.

Below are the Kissing Camels, with Pikes Peak in the background!

ATV's

September 29th, 2013
Sunny and nice!

A curious friend,... "Excuse me sir, but do you have anything in there that deer like to eat?"

A day of ATVing with the fam.  Papa checks the map while Aidan gives input.

Jenny takes a spin before having to head home to work.

Chawley & Lala

Pete, with Teagan in front of him, and Aidan in back,  make a big family splash through a creek.

This looks like a GREAT spot for lunch!

Aidan & Tiggy pick a spot by the water.

 More cool rock formations.
